It was NEVER about the house…
I recently had the opportunity to work with a young woman I first met when she was just five years old in my preschool classroom. Over the years, I’ve had a front-row seat to her life—watching her navigate the ups and downs of adolescence and quietly witnessing the incredible woman she has become.
When her mom reached out and shared that she was thinking about buying a home—but didn’t know where to start—I knew this was going to be more than a transaction.
So we sat down together.
And we didn’t talk about houses.
Not once.
Instead, we talked about her life. Her dreams. Her family. Her dogs. Her career. The places she wanted to travel and the life she wanted to build. We talked about what truly mattered to her—and then we worked backwards.
We created a plan.
We built a budget.
I checked in with her weekly—not just about savings, but about growth. Was she showing up in a way at work that positioned her for a raise? Was she building habits that aligned with the life she said she wanted?
Months passed.
Consistency replaced uncertainty. Confidence replaced hesitation.
And only then did we begin the conversation about what it would look like for her to buy a home.
Because this job—it’s not really a job at all.
It’s a way of life.
It’s the privilege of stepping into someone’s story, helping them see what’s possible, and walking alongside them as they build it. It touches every part of who you are, because at its core, it’s about people—not properties.
And the deep, unwavering desire inside of me to help others achieve their dreams?
That’s not work.
That’s the reward.
